I have specified hundreds of fixtures in twenty years of practice. Lumière Maison is the only house that asked for my ceiling joist plan before quoting. The chandelier is flawless — and it arrived a week early.
Four generations of light, shaped entirely by hand.
Lumière Maison began in 1974 as a two-room workshop on the outskirts of Lyon, where our founder Élisée Marchand spent his evenings polishing Bohemian crystal prisms by candlelight. Half a century later, the workshop has grown — but the hands have not changed.
Every chandelier we make passes through fourteen stages, nine of them completed without machinery. Crystal is sourced from a single family-run glassworks in Bohemia; brass frames are cast in-house, hand-filed and gilded with genuine 24-karat leaf. Nothing is assembled from a catalogue. Each fixture is drawn, proportioned, and weighted for the exact ceiling height and room volume it will inhabit — a process our designers call dressing the light to the architecture.
We still sign the underside of every frame with the date it was completed, and the name of the artisan who finished it.
